Group Therapy

Having facilitated therapy groups for over eight years I have seen how this offers a powerful experience of how we relate to one another. There are many possibilities for growth and developing self-awareness within a group setting.

Groups normally consist of between eight and fifteen members, they can meet for a specific purpose or issue such as bereavement support etc or a more general wish for personal development.

A gestalt facilitator will work with what becomes figural in the group; a member may have a pressing need or there may be a more general group feeling developing. The facilitator will work to raise awareness as to what is happening and how it is affecting members.

Group meetings can take place regularly once a week on an hourly to two-hourly basis or can take the form of longer, regular but less frequent meetings such as a monthly Saturday or weekend group of four one and a half hour sessions per day.

These sessions can be of particular use for people who have had previous experience of therapy and offer a lower cost alternative to individual therapy for continuing personal development.

I am in the process of setting up a personal development group for newly qualified counsellors in the Bexhill area and I am interested in developing a personal development group in Brighton.

I am available to work with pre-existing groups or newly set up groups

If you are interested in becoming part of a Gestalt group or wish to discuss the possibility please contact me by e-mail with your contact details (e-mail and phone no.). We can then meet to discuss your needs or hopes and how a group setting can meet these. When there are sufficient members to run a group I will notify you.
