I have been working as a therapist for ten years and have extensive experience working with individuals, young people and groups. I am the main tutor on the Bexhill
College Diploma in Counselling; the course has recently been described as a centre of excellence.
I completed my Diploma in Counselling in 1999. I am currently studying for an M.A. in Gestalt Therapy Theory Studies at the Gestalt Centre in London having completed the Post-Graduate Certificate and Post-Graduate Diploma there.
I believe that what is currently important to us will manifest itself in the present moment. How the past has shaped us will be available to us as well as what is currently happening now will help to shape future events. I work in a present-centred way focussing on what is happening in the here-and-now raising awareness about what we are doing and how we are doing it. This helps to develop our understanding of our ways of relating to others giving us more freedom in the choices that we make. I take an holistic approach to therapy and to the person, looking at what is happening both cognitively, emotionally and physically.
I subscribe to the theory that the more we understand and accept who and how we are currently the more we are able to change the way we are.
I work on both a short-term or a long-term basis with a wide range of issues including personal development, bereavement, depression, stress, anxiety, anger, self-harm, relationships and spirituality.
Gestalt therapy is well suited to more general issues such as lack of a sense of direction, purpose or meaning, a loss of focus or a sense that something is lacking or not quite right.
